After a disappointing debut Indian Super League season, SC East Bengal will be looking to bounce back this season with new head coach Manuel Diaz at the helm. The former Real Madrid Castilla tactician will be replacing their former head coach Robbie Fowler.
Manolo will be looking to start his ISL campaign on a positive note and instil a winning mentality in his players. The Spaniard said that the SC East Bengal fans can expect a flavour of Real Madrid’s winning mentality in their upcoming Indian Super League season.
Manolo Diaz has also highlighted that his philosophy will reflect on the pitch. The 53-year-old has a big influence on Real Madrid in his coaching career and by all the indications it seems the Red and Gold will play a very aggressive style of football like the Blancos.
Spanish coach Angel Puebla has also joined the SC East Bengal camp as Manuel Diaz’s head coach and he reassured the fans of their Real Madrid influence in their coaching.
“Both of us come from Real Madrid and thus have a strong mentality. This means that we will be looking to win every match,” said Manolo’s assistant Angel Puebla, who also doubles up as a translator for the SC East Bengal head coach.
Diaz was asked about the style of the play that he will opt, to which he said that he would keep a very flexible style according to game situations. “We will decide the team formation depending on the opponent and the shape of the squad. We will try to adapt to different situations before the match and during the match. Our decision making in the tournament will be determined by these aspects,” Diaz explained.
The Kolkata derby is always a very hyped fixture and this time both the club from Kolkata will play against each other on the second matchday on November 27. SC East Bengal lost both their matches against ATK Mohun Bagan last season but with Diaz at the helm, the Red and Gold fans will hope that the tables will turn this time around. Speaking on the historic Kolkata derby, Diaz said, “We want to win it not only for three points but we also want to see our fans happy.”After a disappointing debut Indian Super League season, SC East Bengal will be looking to bounce back this season with new head coach Manuel Diaz at the helm.
