India Hockey women team midfielder Namita Toppo has admitted being away from the game makes her come back much stronger.
Following the camping of the India Men and Women Hockey core probables in the SAI [Sports Authority of India], South Campus in Bengaluru. They’re being together as one had given them time for much reflection on their past performances, experiences in the game, and how they have been handling the pressure that comes with each game.
Namita Toppo is one of the experienced players who control the heart of the midfield for the team.
The brilliant 24-year old who has been impressive so far this season for the team ranked no.9 in the world has attained the benchmark of 150 international caps for the country back in 2018 and also made a return from a long term niggling injury in 2019. Since her return, she has been working tirelessly to meet up with the speed of her teammates.
During an interview, Namita revealed she was really struggling when she was absent in the team for close to 9-10 months. ” During Asia 2018 games, I injured my meniscus which simply means I had a torn knee cartilage. I felt bad and extremely worried because I had no idea on my return date not even when the Olympics was just about two years on the Horizon”
“But whenever I think about the past events, I believe Long term injuries away for the game have made me stronger”. She said.
