The Haryana Steelers made history on Sunday by becoming the first team to secure a semifinal berth in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11. The team achieved the milestone with a commanding 47-30 victory over U Mumba at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
Speaking after the match, Steelers’ head coach Manpreet Singh emphasized the importance of staying focused on match day. “It doesn’t matter if we had won a few matches or lost a few (before this). All that matters is how you play on the day of the match; that’s what I have been telling the team,” he said.
This season marks a breakthrough for the Haryana Steelers, as they topped the league standings for the first time in their history. Reflecting on this accomplishment, Manpreet expressed pride in his team’s achievement and highlighted their goal of learning from past experiences.
“It’s the first time that we have topped the table and become the first team to qualify for the semifinals as well. I feel very proud. We want to learn from the mistakes we made last season and bring the trophy this time around.”
The Steelers’ determination to claim the PKL title stems from last season’s heartbreaking loss in the final, where they fell to Puneri Paltan in a close 25-28 match. Manpreet acknowledged the lessons learned from that defeat and expressed confidence in his team’s preparation for the ongoing season’s high-stakes matches.
Haryana’s dominant win over U Mumba showed the team’s depth and cohesion. Their ability to consistently outperform opponents has set them apart in a highly competitive season. With the semifinal berth secured, the Steelers will now focus on maintaining their momentum and perfecting their strategies as they aim to capture their first PKL championship.
The Pro Kabaddi League’s knockout stage promises intense action, and Haryana’s remarkable journey thus far positions them as strong contenders for the title. Fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see if the Steelers can turn this historic moment into championship glory.
