The World no. 3 Dominic Thiem had a stellar 2020 season and now he has set his eye on having a successful season in the next year. Thiem had a good start to the 2020 season as he made his way into the final of Australian Open but could not cross the last hurdle against Novak Djokovic.
Subsequently, after a long break due to Covid-19, Thiem clinched his maiden Grand Slam title by defeating Alexander Zverev in the US Open final. Thiem also made it to the final of the recently concluded ATP World Tour finals in London but could not go past Daniil Madvedev.
Thiem has now confirmed that he will represent Austria at the next summer Olympics in 2021, which will begin from June 23. Furthermore, Thiem confirmed that he will take part in the Rod Laver Cup for Team Europe, which will be up against Team World.
Thiem confirmed, “I am going to participate at the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo starting on July 23! I have been thinking about it for a longer period of time, and next year it eventually fits into my tournament schedule. For an athlete, the atmosphere at the Olympics must be unique, I want to soak it all up.”
“In addition, I am going to participate at the Rod Laver Cup for the third time. From September 24 – 26 I will be part of the “Team Europe“ playing the “Team World“ in Boston,” Dominic said.
On the other hand, former World No. 1 Roger Federer has also confirmed that he will take part in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, Thiem will look to continue his good show in the next season. Thiem has done a sublime job in challenging the Big Three and he will look to bring his best in 2020. Thus, Thiem will look to keep taking the giant strides in the Tennis world.
