The World no.1 Novak Djokovic showed his class in the high-octane match against his biggest rival Rafael Nadal. Djokovic was able to get over the line by 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 to make it to the Roland Garros final. The Serbian had to toil hard for his win and rated it as the greatest match he has ever played at Roland Garros.
Nadal had a 105-2 record in Paris before this game and he has been almost invincible at French Open. However, Djokovic was able to crack the code to go past the King of clay. It was a see-saw battle between two great players, especially the third set was full of twists and turns. In fact, the third lasted for 92 minutes as Djokovic bagged it by 7-6 in the tiebreaker.
Djokovic will now have a chance to become the first player in the last 50 years to win all the four Grand slams twice.
“First I want to say it is a privilege to be on this court with Rafael Nadal. The biggest match I have ever played here in Paris. Also the best match with the best atmosphere for both players,” Djokovic said.
Djokovic added that one has to play his best Tennis to beat Nadal on clay and he was able to do that.
“To win against Rafa on this court you have to play your best tennis, and tonight I played my best tennis. It’s hard to find the words to sum up how I feel. You tell yourself there is no pressure but there is. “Pressure is a privilege – to test my game and my character in matches like this.”
Novak Djokovic was at his best and he brought his A-game to the table. The World No.1 will now face Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final on Sunday.
