Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr wants the team to move on after a thrashing loss against Boston Celtics. The defending champions registered a 125-85 win against the Warriors.
This is the worst home defeat of the Steve Kerr era for the Warriors. Jayson Tatum top-scored with 22 points for the Celtics whereas Steph Curry scored 18 points for the Dubs.
After this loss, the Warriors moved to .500 and they are 21-21 in the ongoing season. Kerr admitted that losing sucks but shared optimism in his players to turn the tables.
“I think the state of the team is good. We have great guys,” Steve Kerr said on Willard and Dibs podcast. “They’re together, they’re connected. But losing sucks. If you’re Steph Curry, and you’ve won four championships and a gold medal, and you’re used to being on top, this really sucks. So I don’t think there’s anything to read into when you see Steph hanging his head other than losing is no fun.”
Kerr said they must be ready for the next clash against Sacramento Kings and the players should put this loss behind them.
“We’ve got to flush this one down the toilet and get ready for [Sacramento]. We’ve been very competitive all year and our guys have fought. We’ve had a handful of these where we just get blown out and these are demoralizing,” he said after the beatdown at Chase Center.
On the other hand, Steph Curry admitted that the team lacked the competitive drive against the Celtics.
“I have no idea,” Curry said about the loss to the Boston Celtics. “Just been a tough one from the end of the first quarter through the rest of the game. Thought we came out with pretty good life and energy. A big part of our season has been when we can’t score, we lose spirit, we lose life, we lose competitiveness.”
