Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name into the record books during the first T20I against England in Kolkata, becoming India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal’s record of 96 wickets, claiming the top spot with 97 wickets to his name.
Arshdeep achieved the milestone in style, dismissing Phil Salt in the first over of the match and returning in the third over to send Ben Duckett back to the pavilion. He finished the match with superb bowling figures of 4-0-17-2.
Since making his debut against England in 2022, Arshdeep has rapidly risen through the ranks, establishing himself as one of India’s premier fast bowlers in the shortest format. His latest accomplishment shows his consistency and ability to deliver under pressure.

India’s bowlers have dominated the proceedings so far, bowlinb England out for 132 in 20 overs. Arshdeep provided the early breakthroughs, while spinner Varun Chakravarthy tightened the grip with a double-wicket over.
Chakravarthy was the pick of the Indian bowlers, returning with figures of 4-0-23-3. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel also picked up a couple of wickets each.
The Indian batters, in response, only took 12.5 overs to chase the target down with seven wickets remaining. Opener Abhishek Sharma was the star, smashing 79 off only 34 deliveries, an innings laced with eight sixes and five fours.
