Legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar was not at all impressed with the fact that Ravindra Jadeja overstepped when he dismissed Marnus Labuschagne on the opening day of the ongoing third Test match at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
Labuschagne chopped the ball back on the stumps when he was yet to get off the mark against Jadeja but the left-arm orthodox spinner had not bowled a legal delivery. In fact, Jadeja had also dismissed Steve Smith of a no-ball in the first Test match at Nagpur in the second innings.
Jadeja has made a rollicking comeback to the game after recovering from his knee injury but he has consistently bowled a few no-balls, which is absolutely unacceptable for a spinner. While Jadeja took all the four wickets for the hosts on the opening day, he bowled a total of two no-balls.
The Little Master feels India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will have to make Jadeja bowl from behind the crease in the practice sessions.
“This is not acceptable. He has a couple of man-of-the-match awards but a spinner bowling no ball… I think Paras Mhambrey has to sit down with him and make him bowl from behind. This could cost India,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
Furthermore, Jadeja also burned all three reviews on his bowling and Rohit Sharma was visibly not impressed. Moreover, Rohit Sharma didn’t take the review when Marnus Labuschagne was plumbed in front by Ravichandran Ashwin.
Meanwhile, Australia is in a commanding position at 156-4 and they are currently leading by 47 runs after India was skittled out for a paltry score of 109 runs.
Indian batters couldn’t show resistance on a difficult pitch and none of the batters could even go past the 25-run mark. Matthew Kunhemann was the pick of the Australian spinners as he returned with career-best figures of 5-16. Furthermore, Usman Khawaja scored 60 runs for the visitors.
