There aren’t many batsmen in the cricket world who are more flamboyant than Rohit Sharma when he gets going. Rohit has always been pleasing to watch and he is a treat to the eyes.
India’s batsman Cheteshwar Pujara said it was pleasing to see Rohit Sharma from the non-striker’s end.
Rohit scored a crucial knock of 127 runs off 256 balls in the second innings of the Oval Test match. The right-hander batted at the top of his game and showed all the resistance which was needed. Rohit took his time in the initial stage of his innings and played the England bowlers with aplomb.
Rohit has shown good form throughout the series and he was finally able to convert his start into a hundred. This was Rohit’s eighth Test hundred, which is his maiden Test century in the overseas conditions.
Meanwhile, Rohit and Pujara added a crucial stand of 154 runs to take their team to a commanding position. Both the batsmen batted at their absolute best and delivered for the team when it mattered the most.
Cheteshwar Pujara said while talking to Michael Atherton at the end of Day 3, “He has been batting well throughout the series. He got a couple of fifties and it was time he converts those into a big one. And today was the day. The way he was batting, it was pleasing to watch from the non-striker’s end, he was timing the ball really well, good batting conditions, but still, some excellent shots which he played and which put us in a very good position in the game.”
On the other hand, Pujara suffered an ankle injury while turning for the second run and had to bat through pain. However, Pujara decided to continue and scored a crucial knock of 61 runs. The Saurashtra batsman revealed his ankle is a bit soar but it is sweet pain.
“Fingers crossed, nothing serious, hopefully will get to know tomorrow. It’s a little bit soar, but it’s sweet pain. I didn’t want this, but I can’t help it,”
Pujara added that the Indian team will look to set a target in excess of 250 runs and they lead by 171 runs at the end of the third day’s play.
