Former Indian domestic giant Wasim Jaffer has selected his all time Indian Premier League XI in which he picked Chennai Super Kings captain, MS Dhoni as the leader of the side. Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in IPL folklore having led CSK to three titles.
Jaffer picked Universe Boss, Chris Gayle and Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma as the openers of his team. Gayle is the highest run-scorer in the T20 format and has scored 4484 runs in 125 IPL matches whereas Rohit has amassed 4898 runs in 188 IPL matches.
Suresh Raina, who has been a consistent performer in the IPL over the years, bats at one down in Jaffer’s team. The left-hander has scored 5368 runs in 193 IPL matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli makes the cut into Jaffer’s all-time team as the talisman is the leading run-getter in IPL with 5412 runs from 177 matches.
MS Dhoni is the wicket-keeper of the side and bats at number five. Dhoni has scored 4432 runs in 190 IPL matches. West Indies’ Andre Russell and India’s Hardik Pandya are the two all-rounders in the team. Russell has scored 1400 runs in 60 matches at a strike rate of 186.42 and he has also scalped 55 wickets whereas Pandya has scored 1068 runs in 66 IPL matches and has claimed 42 wickets.
The prodigy spinner Rashid Khan is the solitary player from Afghanistan as he has enjoyed great success in the league. The leg-spinner has snared 55 wickets in 44 IPL matches. India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the second spinner of the side. Ashwin has taken 125 wickets in 139 IPL matches and has bowled with an impressive economy of 6.79.
Mumbai Indians pace battery Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah are the two fast bowlers in Wasim Jaffer’s side. Malinga is the most successful bowler in the IPL history as he has claimed the most number of wickets. The Sri Lankan legend has taken 170 wickets in 122 matches. Jasprit Bumrah, who is one of the best death bowlers going around, has picked 82 wickets in 77 matches.
Jaffer selected Ravindra Jadeja as the 12th man of the side. Jadeja has scored 1927 runs whereas he has grabbed 108 wickets in 170 IPL games.
