Controversial Nick Kyrgios has predicted tennis will become bland after Rafael Nadal’s retirement. Nadal lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup, which brought curtains on the Spaniard’s glorious career. The veteran won a total of 22 Grand Slams in his glittering career and never gave an inch to the opponent.
Meanwhile, Roger Federer retired from the game after the conclusion of the Laver Cup 2022. On the other hand, Novak Djokovic is also at the fag end of his career.
“I think it’s a very interesting time at the moment in the tennis world,” he said. Obviously, we see, you know, Djokovic, I think we could all say he’s at the tail end of his career. He’s still a phenomenal player. But Nadal, literally, today, officially, his last ever time we’re going to see him on the court. Federer is gone. So look, there’s some amazing players still out there, but I think the game’s a bit bland at the moment,” Kyrgios said on Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren radio show.
The Australian said he hates the friendship between the current players as he feels they are too nice to each other.
“And, you know, everyone’s liking each other, and everyone’s friends with each other. And I just, I hate that s**t, to be honest. Everyone’s everyone’s best mate,” the Australian tennis star added in the radio show chat.
Meanwhile, Kyrgios has been out of action for a long time due to injury issues. The Wimbledon finalist is looking to make a return to the tour in the Brisbane Open next month.
